ost media outlets, including the newspapers, keep saying the University of Wyoming Cowboys will host nationally ranked Boise State this weekend. But there are no ideas as to how the Cowboys will win or have a chance a winning.
On Tuesday night’s radio show, Inside Cowboy Football with Dave Christensen, Head Coach Dave Christensen was not on the show. The assistant head coach and interim head coach Pete Kaligis was instead.
On the radio show Kaligis was asked how the Cowboys will do without Christensen. “We go on as normal,” Kaligis answered. “No matter what happens in life you pick it up and you go. That’s what’s going on these next few days.”
This game, however, will be a difficult one. Boise State is very strong this year, and they are ranked 21 in both the BCS and the AP polls.
Boise state’s defense is very good and the players are fast. Our offense will have to be ready to play when they first walk on to the field.
This game the cowboys cannot afford to play the way they did against Fresno state, where they did not come out to play the first half but tried to come back the second half.
This time if the Cowboys do not start off strong, Boise State will run up the score to the point where the Cowboys will not be able to make up half of the points.
On the radio show Kaligis said, “We take it one game at a time.” This game is the focus of the Cowboy nation right now, not Colorado State University next weekend but the Boise State game is the number one focus.
“We’ve been looking at silver linings for the past how many weeks,” Kaligis said. This Saturday at 1:30, none of the players should be looking at silver linings. They should be focusing on the game and tasks at hand, nothing else.
The fact that Christensen will not be coaching is not something people should be worried about anymore. Once the kick-off starts the football game, nothing matters but winning and trying to be more physical, more strategic and stronger than Boise State.
When asked to compare the Cowboys record to Boise State’s, Kaligis said, “[With adversity] you can sit back or you can take it on and our boys have been doing that every week, but everyone needs to do their job.”
