With the holiday season underway, the City of Laramie is decking the halls with a Christmas Parade and Downtown Tree Lighting on Friday.
The Downtown Tree Lighting will take place at 5:45 p.m. at Second and Ivinson streets. Right after the tree lighting, the Christmas Parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Spectators can gather at the First Street Plaza, located at First and Grand streets, to watch the parade. To keep the audience warm, there also will be a fire pit to warm up by and cookies and cocoa to enjoy during the festivities.
This year’s theme is “Let it Snow,” and floats will be awarded prizes in various categories including best use of theme, most original, creative use of merchandise, best design, most welcoming and best overall float.
The parade route is scheduled to start from the Boot Barn South on Second Street and move west on University to First Street, south on First Street to Garfield Street, west on Garfield to Second Street and then return to the Boot Barn staging area.
