The end of the semester is here. Every waking moment is spent cramming for finals, finishing research papers and complaining about the lack of sleep. There is hardly enough time for a quick bite to eat, so many students grab whatever is handy and cheap.
For many students, the only appliance available is a microwave. Ramen cooks up easily, but a person can only take so many of those packages of noodles and salty seasoning.
When hunger strikes in the middle of long study session, this recipe is easy to prepare and cooks quickly in the microwave.
Ingredients:
1 medium apple—peeled and thinly sliced (A pear would be a great substitute.)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons quick cooking oats
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon margarine or butter
Cooking Instructions:
Place apple in a microwave safe bowl and set aside.
In another bowl mix the dry ingredients.
Mix the butter or margarine into the dry ingredients until crumbly and pour it over the apples.
Cook in the microwave for 2 ½ minutes on high or until the apples are tender. Let cool and ENJOY! (Cooking time may vary in some microwaves. I had to cook mine for 3 ½ minutes to get the apples tender.)
