Leaders of the Fraternity/Sorority Community met last weekend to talk about the future of Fraternity/Sorority Life. Ideas and goals were swapped from representatives of 14 different fraternities and sororities.
Officers from the Interfraternity and Panehellinic Council joined chapter presidents and representatives in team building and thought provoking workshops. The activities ranged from workshops that focused on individual and community goal setting to open discussions about issues plaguing the community.
Community image was among one of the most discussed issues at the retreat. Alex Carson of Pi Kappa Alpha remarked on the “over representation” of Greeks in other organizations on campus as a very positive thing. He said he was happy to see such a small group of people leading not only the Greek Community, but the campus at large.
“Each chapter faces their own issues, but there is a common root to the problems that everyone shares,” Mandy Lynn Todor of Kappa Kappa Gamma said. Chapter presidents and representatives were given tools, resources and ideas that could help solve their chapter issues.
“I know what’s going on inside my Fraternity but this weekend showed me that I need to open up to the rest of the community. Overall I was impressed and had a good time,” Donovan Millar of Lambda Chi Alpha said.
“It was a very productive weekend, and I’m excited to see what comes from it,” said Todor.
