Students, faculty and community members await the relaunch of the UW bookstore under the new name The University Store.

Two weeks ago, the University Bookstore, UW’s own source for textbooks, technology, UW gear and more in the Union, was renamed the University Store.

“Our goals for the rebranding were simple. First, we are much more than a bookstore and wanted our name to accurately reflect the broad range of services and products we make available on a daily basis,” Manager Misty Eaton said. “Second, we are proud to be part of UW and felt there was an opportunity to further UW’s brand with a revision to our logo.”

Since its startup in 1921, the store has been known as the University Bookstore. The storewide conversion began Jan. 31 when a logo and name change unveiling took place along with a Laramie Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours gathering.

“The University Bookstore has long been a fixture on campus, meeting the needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni, fans and friends for more than 90 years,” Assistant Store Manager Ed Hays said. “This name change reflects our understanding of the dynamic environment we service and our commitment to meet these needs well into the future.”

The University Store worked with UW Institutional Marketing, staff, students and administrators in order to create their new logo which can be seen in the store and online.

The store’s website is updated with the new logo and name change stating, “We’re The University Store! We’ve been serving The University of Wyoming since 1921! We’re much more than just a bookstore. We sell office supplies, apparel, gifts and much, much more.”
