University of Wyoming Students Attorney Betsy Goudey spoke at The Associated Students of the University of Wyoming Tuesday meeting. Goudey spoke about the UW Student Attorney Program and discussed what it has to offer.
Goudey offered some key points about UW Students’ Attorney Program, including helpful lease tips available on the website. On the Students Attorney website there is information for students to learn and have a better understanding of the landlord-tenant relationship and help students avoid difficulties or complications with their lease.
The UW Attorney program offers legal services to all fee paying UW students and is is funded through the allocation of a portion of ASUW fee paid each semester by fee paying students, Goudey said.
“In 2011, over the course of 12 months there were 865 student consultations and workshops,” Goudey said.
It is a service that UW offers but many students are still unaware of the program. “The Students’ Attorney Program however, cannot present students in court proceedings,” Goudey said.
ASUW also discussed the Senate bill #2387, which is the Clarification of the Responsibilities of sitting ASUW and the Senate bill #2388, which is Mandatory Senator attendance at ASUW Funded RSO.
Next week ASUW will discuss Senate Bill #2389; ASUW Support for Freshman Senate Speaking and Senate bill #2390, Articles of Impeachment.
