It’s nearly 1 a.m. and I am anxiously awaiting the trip to San Diego. I’m torn between actually trying to sleep or staying up to make sure I make it up in time and saving my sleepiness for the drive down and the plane ride. Ah yes, the plane ride….the one thing that truly makes me nervous about traveling. Packed tightly into a canister gliding through the air at 500 miles per hour and then plummeting out of the sky to come to a so-called “safe landing.” While the pilot would call it “descending,” I call it “falling.” But that’s beside the point. Flying aside, I am so excited to embark on this adventure!
Here in a few hours 12 sleepy travelers will be making their way to the long-term parking lot to meet up as we all load to get ready for departure. We have so many things to look forward to: getting to know each other, a beach, warm weather, staying in a hostel for the first time (for me anyway), and of course getting to work outdoors and make a positive impact on San Diego.
Well, those are my last minute thoughts before we leave for sunny California! The next time you hear from me I’ll be reporting from the “front lines,” so-to-speak.
I think I am in fact going to try to get a little shut-eye before we leave at bright and early at 3 a.m. You’ll be hearing from me soon!
