Honorary Cowboy award takes shape

The Associated Students at the University of Wyoming have decided to fund the Honorary Cowboy Award after voting Tuesday night to pass Senate Bill #2393.

The Honorary Cowboy promotes the Cowboy Spirit through the State of Wyoming. The first Honorary Cowboy Award recipient was Derek Augustin for his Cowboy Spirit in the face of his diagnosis of neuroblastoma.

The award’s expansion is due to ASUW wishes to recognize students with similar Cowboy spirit in the future. The criteria for the Honorary Cowboy Award scholarship recognition must include:

Students in K-12 Wyoming schools are eligible for the honor.

An individual should emulate an upbeat attitude representing the “Cowboy Up” spirit of the University of Wyoming student population.

An individual facing a formable life condition and/or circumstances that requires a “Cowboy Up” spirit that leads to ultimate triumph.

An individual should have the support of community and family that is constant with that of the University assisting individuals and aiding to the spirit of “Cowboy Up.”

ASUW is now seeking to recognize another child facing a formable life condition and other circumstances that requires a “Cowboy Up” spirit to become an Honorary Cowboy of the University of Wyoming for the 2013-2014 academic school year.
