ASUW Brief – Sept. 30

-All ASUW senators were present for Tuesday meeting. All senators approved minutes and agenda; the agenda was modified before approval.

 

-ASUW had three guest speakers for the night. The first two were from the United Way of Albany County, Paul Heimer and Kim Zaft. The other guest speaker was Oneida Blagg of UW Employment Practices of Diversity.


-Heimer and Zaft presented information about the practices of United Way. They said that they are seeking to raise more $400,000 for their activities next year. Heimer and Zaft were also seeking volunteers from ASUW.

 

-Blagg provided general information about the functions of Employment Practices of Diversity. She said they mainly work with the idea of fairness in employment, the treatment of people and tell students how to deal with discrimination related issues.

 

-President Ahmed Balogun said that he was working on communications; presenting WyoVocal and seeking feedback about it. He said that he is also looking for an office aide.

 

-Director of Institutional Development Robert West said that he is seeking donors to finance scholarships.

 

-Nominations were held for officer and student of the month. The winners will be announced next week.
