Breaking news y’all! Winter is finally here. That means we can all break out our winter coats and hats.
If you are anything like me, you freaking hate the cold! I have been recently brainstorming some ways to enjoy this winter while the ground is frozen and the sun is in hibernation. To be honest I haven’t thought of one activity. So as I am doing right now, sitting by the fire and drinking some delicious hot cocoa, is what I will be doing until about April. I mean what better way to spend the next four months?
For the rest of you snow bunnies, you are probably loving that the weather is finally changing. Snowboarding, skiing and snow shoeing oh my! This is probably heaven to those of you who the cold never bothered anyway, pun intended.
Don’t get me wrong I dearly love the snow. I think it is one of the most aesthetically pleasing events that the earth produces. I love looking outside on Christmas Eve, and underneath that one street light you see beautiful white precipitation floating effortlessly to the frozen earth.
What I don’t particularly enjoy about the snow is as follows:
-I can’t wear flip-flops (I love flip-flops).
– Snow doesn’t particularly allow for a good tan.
– I slip and fall all over the place when I am trying to walk to class. (We live in Wyoming people, snow turns into ice, thanks to the wind).
-Frostbite. Enough said.
– Did I already mention falling on ice?
Snow is not a fun time, yesterday I was getting out of my vehicle at the bus stop and I fell right on my ass. This may have been hysterical to the guy that was walking next to me. But I now have a giant bruise on my arm. I hate falling!
To the new freshman, with everyone insisting on riding their bikes and long boards to class when there is a blizzard, you all need to watch out because I can guarantee, you will end up on the ground at least one time this season.
And for all you ROTC kids. Your combat boots do get slippery! Step down not out.
Even though the snow mostly sucks, there are some fun times to be had in it. Grab your roommate and ask them to go build a snowman with you. Grab your boyfriend and start a snowball fight with them. Or heck skip school one day and head up to the mountain.
Whatever you do this winter have fun and be safe. Remember every one, Step down not out!
