She said: Laramie Weekends

No one has an excuse when they say they don’t know what to do with their weekend.

On a typical weekend, there is a plethora of activities to choose from on and off campus. For example, I had to choose whether to go to a hypnotist or go to a bluegrass concert at a downtown bar Friday night. I face similar choices every weekend I spend in Laramie. And it get’s worse in the summer surprisingly.

Some of these choices range from playing ski-ball at the local arcade or to attend an art show.

When I have the extra money I go to the Snowy Range Ski Area for a day of powder shredding, even though I ski horribly. And if I want to spend money in exchange for pure enjoyment I go to Hero Depot to try my hand at pinball and beat my personal record of 36,000 points in skee-ball.

No money? No problem. There are several other events and activities to attend for a low price or are free. Friday Night Fever may not sound appealing as an upper-classmen or when you know that it’s an alternative to spend your Friday night binge drinking. But trust me! It is. As a junior I just discovered FNF and their events are rarely boring and they’re free.

Another activity I attend when I want to feel high class for the price of nothing is art receptions for the Visual Arts Building Gallery. These happen about two or three times a semester and are worth the wait. The receptions include gourmet catering, very fine art and free booze. Not to mention they often have an artist talk, which is intellectually stimulating, if you’re into that.

Every weekend I have to decide what to do with my evenings. Between so many entertainment options, it’s never an easy choice.
