The top three finalists in each event earned All-Mountain West at the indoor Track and Field Mountain West Championships held in Colorado Springs, Colorado from February 26-28th. Last season Wyoming also received nine All-Mountain West awards.
“We’re really excited about the outdoor season, we felt like we had a good indoor season,” head coach Brian Berryhill said.
Senior Holly Page took first in the 3,000 meter race beating her old school record by ten seconds with a time of 9:26 and also took third in the 5,000 meter race. Sophomore Jordan Charles took first in the 60-meter hurdles earning his third All-Conference award. Colin Herold, Ricky Faure and Tyler Anderson all received their first All-Mountain Went honors.
Berryhill is expecting for both the men and women’s spring team to finish higher in the outdoor Mountain West championships, and also expects to see an increase in the more first team All-Conference placements.
“We feel like we’re a better outdoor team when you look at the makeup of our team and our roster. We were excited and felt like we had a good solid indoor season, but really looking forward to the outdoor season,” Berryhill said.
Jordan Charles is expected to repeat All-Conference honors in the outdoor season. With the spring season just around the corner, the Wyoming track and field team is getting ready for their first spring event the Jerry Quiller Classic, March 2, at Boulder, Colorado.
