The Wyoming Cowboys will be going to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002.

After a 45-43 win in the Mountain West Championship game over San Diego State, the

Wyoming Cowboys earned the Mountain West automatic bid. Wyoming most certainly would have been denied from the field of 68, because of their poor strength of schedule and low RPI, if not for the victory over the Aztecs. Only six Cowboys scored, with Larry Nance, Jr. leading all scorers with 14.

Josh Adams was named the MW Tournament MVP after averaging over 18 points per game in the three games at the tournament; including 27 points to push the Cowboys past the No. 1 seeded Boise State Broncos in the Semi-Final game. Adams scored 10 against

San Diego State, including a 3-point shot that gave the Cowboys a 43-41 advantage.

Nance was named to the All-Mountain West Tournament team along with Adams.

This is the first ever Mountain West Championship in school history.

The Cowboys’ seeding and location of game will be determined tomorrow, on Selection Sunday. The Mountain West is believed to be a four bid league, with Colorado State, Boise State, San Diego State and Wyoming will be selected to the 68-team field for the NCAA National Championship.
