A Laramie man was arrested on March 27 for sexual exploitation of children.

The arrest of Robert Pruitt, 29, came after a December search warrant for electronics at his residence uncovered at least three videos containing children engaged in sexual acts.

The search warrant came after a woman called the police on suspicion that someone caring for her grandchildren was allowing them to watch pornography with him.

One of these children was caught drawing sexually explicit pictures by his teacher, and the child told his teacher the caretaker was showing them movies on his laptops.

When police arrived at the woman’s home with warrants for the electronics in the home, a man was discovered walking quickly to his bedroom. This man was later identified as Pruitt.

Police discovered Pruitt had minimized a screen on his computer that contained a “paused video with what appeared to be a young teenaged female having sex with an adult male,” according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Police then seized numerous electronic devices with the capability to store video and pictures, and after a lengthy analysis by the Division of Criminal Investigation’s Crimes Against Children Task Force, determined there were multiple videos depicting children engaged in sexual acts.

Pruitt and his defense filed a motion to evaluate his mental health, and the motion passed. The evaluation has not been completed yet.

Pruitt could face up to 30 years imprisonment if found guilty of three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
