The Wyoming Cowgirls golf team is sitting in ninth place out of nine teams with a score of 637 (+61) after the second day of the Mountain West Championship.
“We just had a very up and down day and struggled down the stretch with some decision making. We just need to play for the shot in front of us in each and every situation and I know we can improve and play the way we are capable of playing,” Wyoming head coach Josey Stender said.
Sophomore Mackenzie Barrie led the Cowgirls on the second day with a score of 74 (+2). She was able to catch three birdies in the round. She is tied for 32nd after the second day with a score of 157 (+13).
“I was very proud of the way Mackenzie bounced back today and really battled back,” coach Stender said.
Senior Samantha Stancato is right behind Barrie with a two day score of 159 (+15) and is tied for 37th place. Stancato placed a score of 84 (+12) on the second day. This comes after she posted a 75 (+3) on the first day.
Sophomore Taylor Dorans turned in a score of 84 (+12) on the second day. Dorans has and overall score of 161 (+17) and is tied for 40th. Redshirt freshman Gabrielle Gibson has an overall score of 164 (+20) and is in 42nd place after posting a score of 83 (+11) on the second day. Junior Emily Woodard is in 44th place with a second day score of 88 (+16) and an overall score of 167 (+23).
San Diego State’s Milagros Chavez leads the Mountain West Championship with an overall score of 140 (-4). San Jose State is the school that leads the championship with a score of 589 (+8), followed by San Diego State with a score of 301 (+13).
Yesterday was the final day of the tournament and results were undetermined at the time of printing.
