The Wyoming Cowboys football team will have six games that will air on national TV this upcoming season.
The Pokes will have five games that will air on the ESPN Networks, with one of those games airing on ESPN 2. On Friday Oct. 30, Wyoming will play at Utah State at 8:30 p.m., with the game airing on ESPN 2.
The last nationally televised game for Wyoming will be airing on the CBS Sports Network. This game will be at San Diego State on Saturday Nov. 14 at 8:30 p.m. Wyoming’s games against Air Force, Nevada, Boise State and Colorado State will all air on the ESPN Networks.
If any of these games air on ESPN or on ESPN 2 Wyoming and its opponent will both receive a $500,000 appearance bonus from the Mountain West national television contract. UW and Utah State will both receive a $300,000 bonus for their game on ESPN 2.
The rest of Wyoming’s games will either air on the ROOT Sports Network or on the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders.
Last year, the Cowboys had seven games airing on national TV including a game against Oregon that was aired on the PAC-12 Network. Wyoming lost the game 48-14.
Wyoming’s first nationally televised game of last season came in the second week of the season against Air Force. The game aired on ESPN U where the Pokes won 17-13. Wyoming will not have their first game on national TV until the sixth game in, but it will come against Air Force again.
This year Wyoming will have four games away from Laramie that will air on national TV. Last year Wyoming had three road games that were aired nationally. Only the game at Fresno State was aired on the ESPN Networks.
Most of these nationally televised games from last year were being aired around 8 p.m. Fans will be excited to hear that this will probably be the case again for these games on national TV. The reasons for the late starts are the Mountain West has a relatively small fan base and being in the west in general.
The actual channels and starting times of the games will be announced as the season gets closer and in some cases during the football season.
Players compete against on another at the Spring game from last season. The Cowboys will play on national tv including CBS and ESPN affiliates this upcoming season.
