This Sunday, head coach Larry Shyatt is extending an invite to all UW employees and their families to come and meet the Cowboys men’s basketball team.
“I have wanted to do this for years. I wanted to invite every member of the university personnel and their families for a behind the scenes mini-practice and tour of the Arena Auditorium and to extend ourselves to them,” said Shyatt.
From 5 to 6:30 p.m. UW faculty and staff will be able to watch the Cowboy basketball team practice, including a live practice with Mountain West officials, receive a behind the scenes tour to the AA and facilities and be able to meet players and coaches. The tour will consist of the gym, new locker-room, lounge, theater, weight room, training room and the new 7220 High Altitude room.
Shyatt said that over the years Wyoming has some extremely passionate fans that have, and deserve to a have, something like this. Over time, Shyatt has seen some weather that prevented fans from being able to come in to some of these games, but the Laramie faithful have still shown up.
“These employees, along with our student population and our Laramie residents are the heart and soul of our basketball followers, and they need to be thanked for being there for us,” Shyatt said.
The Cowboys’ basketball season will open on Nov. 7 with an exhibition game against Fort Lewis here in Laramie. Wyoming will lift their Mountain West championship banner before the game.
