Three of Wyoming’s top artifacts on campus
Three out of the top 10 Wyoming artifacts are housed in several institutions on the UW Campus. The three artifacts include, the 1863 Bridger-Collins map, drawn by mountain man Jim Bridger and housed in the American Heritage Center (AHC), ranked third; a dinosaur skeleton in the UW Geological Museum, ranked sixth; and four Clovis projectile points, housed in the State Archaeologist’s office in the UW Anthropology Building, ranked seventh.

Tri-Delta’s clothing drive
The University of Wyoming chapter of the Delta Delta Delta (Tri Delta) sorority is sponsoring a clothing drive to benefit the Clothing Cottage Thrift Boutique, a nonprofit organization in Laramie. The drive will continue through Nov. 20. Clothing for all sizes, genders and ages can be brought to the Tri Delta sorority or put in any of the drop boxes that will be placed around campus for this purpose. Boxes will be located in each of the campus sororities, Washakie Center and the Wyoming Union.

Education professor honored
The Wyoming Counseling Association recently presented its J.F. MacNeel Award to Jane Warren, UW College of Education department of professional studies associate professor. Warren has practiced as a Wyoming licensed mental health, family and addictions counselor for more than 20 years. A frequent presenter at Wyoming Counseling Association conferences, she involves her graduate students in these presentations. Her research has focused on ethics, addictions, wellness and self-awareness.

UW honors health sciences faculty
Dr. Valerie Lengfelder was recently honored as the University of Wyoming’s college of Health Sciences Outstanding Alumna. She is a member of the inaugural WWAMI class. In 1997 Wyoming entered into a cooperative program with the University of Washington’s School of Medicine along with the states of Montana, Idaho and Alaska, resulting in “WWAMI,” the acronym for the partner states. WWAMI looks for physicians that have a long history of excellence in teaching. Lengfelder has been in family practice at Powell Valley Health Care since 2008. She serving her second term as chief of staff and is president of the PVHC board of directors.

Winter Safety Reminders
The University of Wyoming Risk Management and Safety office provides information that can be helpful in avoiding injuries in the winter. They encourage students to learn about defensive driving and walking, prepare their vehicle for winter, dress appropriate for the cold, drive more slowly and be vigilant.
