Living in Laramie for three years now, I’ve noticed something a bit odd. There aren’t many places that can help you with technology. Whether it’s repair, software, hardware or just the common questions, there are only a few places with limited help.

I know there is an Apple store on campus, but the fact of the matter is that if you don’t have an Apple product, you’re sunk. If you do, you may be able to get some help but the scope of that help is limited at best and most of the time they would advise you into looking at a new product from Apple to help the problem or just have you call the Apple help line.

The IT services at UW is a great tool to utilize if you are a student but after that it’s pretty different. Even as a student you have limited help as they mostly pertain to university sponsored sites and tech or general questions but then it gets a little tricky after that.

What Laramie needs is a service that helps repair, replace and look at computers, cellphones and other devices. There is a large lack of this in the Laramie community and it is something that is becoming a huge necessity as technology continues to increase.

The thing that Laramie needs is a Geek Squad and associated with that is a Best Buy. Geek Squad is a known chain that works with the Best Buy franchise that helps repair, fix and answer general questions about technology and the use of it.

Geek Squad services anything Best Buy sells and by extension any known hardware or software they come across whether you bought it at Best Buy, Apple, your local Walmart or if it’s just a relic of the past.

The company not only services things but also takes house calls for additional fees. They have people on the clock all day, all the time, 365 days a year. You can ask questions via the phone, in store, at home or even online to help remedy your technological problems.

They deal with a variety of technological items including cellphones, computers, GPS, gaming systems, appliances, TV’s, MP3’s and just about anything that has an electronic pulse.

Laramie needs a Geek Squad, a band of heroes dedicated to the service of technology in an increasingly technological age. Serving anyone regardless of brand or college affiliation. It would be a place where you can have the freedom to get your technology answers through the phone, in store or in the comfort of your own home. If a Best Buy has to come with it so be it.
