ASUW held its final campus meeting of the fall 2015 semester on Tuesday.
Next semester’s meeting will resume Tuesday the first week of classes in January.
There were no corrections to the last meeting’s minutes and the agenda for the evening was approved.
The meeting took place in the college of business because ASUW is required to have one hosted meeting a semester.
Chief of Staff Kadi Cooley recapped Governor Matt Mead’s 2017-2018 budget proposal released earlier in the day. She reminded attendees that the proposal is not an official decision.
A highlight of the meeting included two committees that have vacant positions available to senators. The first is ACTA Transportation Committee looking for one student senator. The committee is hoping to differentiate goals and expand public transportation services.
The second is the Union Board, pertaining to the Student Union. The committee covers long and short-term issues among many things. Examples of conflict resolution include The Gardens closure debate that took place last semester.
The budget and planning committee finalized special projects and will present legislation soon.
Multiple announcements and reminders were made about final events happening around the campus during the final weeks of the semester.
Campus climate surveys are being conducted with questions about actions the university is taking and open ended questions to get students’ thoughts on the topic’s issues.
Next week the ASUW will meet in Cheyenne for the governor’s dinner.
