Fall commencement schedule
Fall commencement ceremonies will be held at the University of Wyoming between Thursday and Saturday. According to UW news the university will be presenting 629 degrees. The multicultural graduation celebration will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. The college of arts and sciences and college of agriculture and natural resources graduate ceremony will be held in the Arts and Sciences auditorium Friday at 4 p.m. The college of business will hold its ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday in the art and science auditorium. At the same time the college of health sciences graduation will be held in the Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. The college of engineering and applied science ceremony will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the arts and sciences auditorium.
Shepard Symposium logo contest
The annual Shepard Symposium for social justice is looking for a new design to be placed on T-shirts, Promotional materials, letterhead and on the webpage. The University of Wyoming will be offering a $500 prize to the winning designer. Submissions are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 31. Submissions should be in .png or .jpg format, at least 300 dpi and no larger than 1.2 MB.
Albany County student art exhibit
As part of the University of Wyoming’s holiday celebrations the art museum is hosting an Albany County student art exhibit. The exhibit opened Thursday, and it will continue through Saturday, December 19. It contains art from students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade in the Albany County School District. Students in rural schools, such as Rock River, Valley View, Harmony and Centennial schools may also have their work featured in the exhibit.
UW prepares for pipe bursts
Last winter the University of Wyoming spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to repair buildings on campus. This year the university will be taking extra precautions. New equipment, such as alarms, has been installed to let officials know the building is getting too cold. Additionally door seals and air systems have been inspected and repaired.
International students contribute to Wyoming’s economy
International students enrolled in institutions around the state contributed $22.1 million to Wyoming’s economy during 2014-2015. According to a report by NAFSA, an association for international educators, 1,174 international students are enrolled at University of Wyoming and fulfill 211 student jobs.
UW podcast discusses rising sea levels
The podcast “University of Wyoming today” discusses work done in Greenland in relation to rising Sea levels. The podcast is available on the UW website and iTunes.
