School board to discuss transgender, anti-bullying policies

The Albany County School District No. 1 Board of Education is planning on discussing an update of their anti-bullying policy. They will be discussing the addition of a policy for transgender and gender-nonconforming students as well as revisions to harassment, intimidation and bullying policies. Two drafts were proposed on transgender policy. Both would instate that transgender status remain confidential, require that teachers use students’ preferred name and pronouns and allow students to dress accordingly to how they identify. One draft, however, does not require students to use facilities that would conflict with their gender identity, whereas the other draft requires students to use bathrooms that coincide with their gender assigned at birth. The board has yet to approve either policy.

As of now, hospital officials do believe that this information was not viewed throughout the record breach.
