Laramie welcomes new store

Located in the very heart of Laramie’s historic downtown, local business Ruby’s on Grand contains a wide variety of fascinating items on display behind polished glass windows.

Inside the store a person is guaranteed to find something interesting on display atop the many shelves or tables, and among hundreds of unique items.

Ruby’s on Grand held its grand opening earlier this month on March 3 and 4. First opening its doors on Jan. 13 of this year after relocation and renovation, Ruby’s on Grand recently became the new name of the local store originally named Third Street Marketplace.

The grand opening included a ribbon cutting ceremony and immediate contribution to the Laramie community, as local artist Ashley Quick demonstrated live printing on dishtowels. All proceeds from sales of the dishtowels were donated to the Laramie Soup Kitchen. The business raised $140 to give back to the community.

Ruby’s on Grand features vintage, antique, eclectic, as well as western collectable items. Ranging from handmade goods to housewares, owner Connie Quick said, “There’s a little bit of everything.”

The store may be a business, but it is operated by a strong passion and love for collecting vintage and antique goods.

“I’ve been doing this for a long time and I’ve always loved vintage and antiques,” Quick said.

Quick said she has been collecting antiques and vintage accessories and goods for some time in one way or another.

Quick also owns City Rags Vintage Goods in Thermopolis, which specializes in the same products, and inspired the opening of Ruby’s on Grand in Laramie.

Quick said her favorite item in the store changes every single day because there are so many fascinating things to find and look through.

“It seems whenever I dig out something I think, ‘Oh my gosh this is so nice,’” Quick said.

New items are put out on display at the store every single day.

Because of its original and consistently updated inventory, Ruby’s on Grand offers another unique and interesting place to walk around and explore in downtown Laramie.

From carefully crafted pots and pans, to wall decor, toys, art, clothing, quilts and even jewelry, Ruby’s holds something for everyone at any age, and Quick said it is perfect for gifts.

Some may wonder where Ruby’s on Grand finds all of its unique merchandise. Most of what Ruby’s on Grand has for sale is bought from auctions all across the state of Wyoming, and even neighboring states like Colorado and Nebraska.

“I’m very careful with what I buy and I try to get the best prices I can,” Quick said.

Quick said she is very cautious of purchasing the best possible quality items for the store, meaning inventory is not chipped or broken, and it is always clean.

Though Quick said the majority of inventory comes from auctions, Ruby’s on Grand also occasionally features various products from different artists.

Ruby’s on Grand is open six days a week, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. New products, events and any featured artists can be found on the business Facebook page, and its website is currently under construction.
