The Wyoming men and women’s track and field teams competed in the Mark Faldmo Invitational at Utah State, setting four UW all-time top ten marks.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls combined for 8 first place finishes in Logan, Utah. Utah State will host the Mountain West Conference championship this season.
“Overall, I thought it was a solid day,” head coach Bryan Berryhill said. “The teams took advantage of an opportunity to compete at the Mountain West conference championship site. There were a lot of good performances across the board. The focus was there today.”
Sprinter Jerayah Davis took first place in the 200 meters with a time of 24.31, putting her no. 10 on the UW all-time list. Teammate Mikalah Skates placed second in the women’s 110-hurdles with a 14.25, putting her no. 8 on the UW all-time list.
Men’s sprinter Sam Kirkeide won the 100 meters with a time of 10.71, following a personal record in the event at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.
Hurdler Jordan Charles took home first place in the men’s 110-hurdles, clocking a 14.01. Teammate Scott Carter posted a 14.26 in the event, placing him no. 8 on the UW all-time list. Carter also took third place in the long jump with a jump of 23-11.5.
UW’s Cassidy Meade found herself on the UW all-time list at no. 4 all-time in the 800 meters with a time of 2:09.72. Cowboy’s Ricky Faure ran a 1:48.90 in the event, winning the 800 meters by almost five seconds.
Distance runner Kerry White finished second in the 1,500 meters with an altitude-adjusted time of 4:34.32. Her teammate Solana Quistorff finished right behind for a third place time of 4:40.81.
Jonah Henry won the men’s 1,500 meters with an altitude-adjusted 3:53.74, a personal best for the Cowboy runner.
Cowgirl Kacey Doner also placed first, clocking an 11:06.48 in the women’s 3,000 meter steeplechase. The time places Doner no. 5 on the UW all-time list and beats her personal record by most than 10 seconds.
Garrett Lynch tossed 55 feet 2 inches in the men’s shot put, placing second and setting a new personal record. Hannah Carr finished third in the discus for the Cowgirl’s with a throw of 159-10.
“Garrett’s been getting better and better each week,” Berryhill said. “Coach (Paul) Barrett is excited about the work he’s been putting in. That was a huge step forward.”
