This Oct. 5 Wyomingites have a chance to view “Home Free,” a country band, live in concert at the Gryphon Theater.
“Home Free” is an American band, which won the fourth season of “The Sing-Off” show on NBC in 2013. They are an A cappella group of five performers who travel across the country with their new tour after the release of their new album, “Timeless.” The Gryphon Theater is their next tour stop; Thursday at 7 p.m.
“These five guys from Minneapolis were the only country group to participate in the fourth season of “The Sing-Off” and they’re already touring with 250 shows a year. So, they’re rather experienced. And they sound it. Because there are five, I like how I can differentiate between the parts. They just sound clear and tight,” said Ben Folds, the jury of “The Sing-Off” TV show.
“Home Free” consists of five professional vocalists: Austin Brown as leading tenor, Rob Lundquist as the tenor, Adam Rupp as the baritone, Tim Foust as bass and Adam Chance as the beatboxer. The group was founded in 2000 in Minnesota by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp. Since then they have released 10 albums. The most recent one is titled “Timeless” and was officially released on September 22.
The members created a show group; singing a large variety of musical genres. They have performed countless live shows for crowds in state and county fairs, on college campuses and in theatres across the country.
“Home Free” gained popularity in 2013 after their singing competition win. They attempted to pass auditions for first three seasons of the show but succeeded only on the fourth attempt after changing the whole group style to country.
After the victory in the fourth season, the group was awarded $100,000, a recording contract with Sony and country-wide recognition. Join “Home Free” at the Gryphon Theater Thursday to enjoy the country a cappella show.
