The University of Wyoming girls soccer team took on the Utah State Big Blue Friday, Oct. 13, at 3 p.m. Utah State came out on top with a final score of 3-1.
The Cowgirls started the game off hot scoring a goal only 12 minutes and four seconds into the game. The goal was scored by No. 24, Michaela Stark, with the combined assist from No. 23, Brittney Stark and No. 7, Alisha Bass. The score remained Wyoming 1, Utah State 0, through the first half.
The tide turned in favor of Utah State in the second half. The Big Blues’ first goal of the half came at the time 53:55 and was scored by No. 19, Bailee Hammond, with the assist coming from No. 2, Wesley Hamblin. The same duo was able to connect for another goal at a time of 80:53. Giving Hammond another goal and Hamblin another assist for the game.
At the time of 85:53 Utah State assistant head coach, Trevor Wachsman, was issued a red card and ejected from the game. Two minutes later Utah State scored their final goal at the time of 87:43. This time number 25, Alecia Robinson, was able to assist the header goal by number 33, Ashley Cardozo.
Wyoming took 10 shots in today’s game with seven of those shots being on goal. Utah State took 16 shots and 10 of their shots were on goal. Cowgirl goalkeeper, No. zero, Georgia Rowntree, racked up an impressive seven saves.
The Cowgirls next game will be home Sunday, Oct. 15, at 1 p.m. against Boise State.
