The City of Laramie and the University of Wyoming held four public meetings the first week of October about the possibility of changes to 15th Street between Ivinson Avenue and Willett Drive.
Discussed possible changes include timed gates restricting access to motor vehicles at certain times, an overpass or underpass walkway or completely closing 15th to motor vehicles.
“The next big step is a report from the University of Wyoming to the UW Board of Trustees by Nov. 1,” City of Laramie Planning Manager, Derek Teini, said. “According to the city’s counts, traffic counts are normal and there’s nothing out of the ordinary going on in that area.”
The proposal and information finding period, which is ending, were initiated through Wyoming’s Joint Appropriations Committee and is not a project or study requested by the University of Wyoming.
“The trustees received the draft report at their meeting last week,” UW’s Vice-President for Governmental and Community Affairs, Chris Boswell, said. “I do not expect any further action from the board.”
