Cowboys rally past Falcons on Senior Night

The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team beat Air Force 66 – 54 this Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the Arena Auditorium in Laramie.
This was the Cowboys’ last home game of the season. Junior Justin James had the most points for the Cowboys, with 18. Seniors Louis Adams and Hayden Dalton followed with 12 points each.
“It was kind of a back and forth game. We could never really pull away,” senior Hayden Dalton said. “They were playing hard and I think it was up to us in the second half to focus on getting stops and rebounds.”
The Cowboys had a rough start, going down 4 – 0 right away. The Cowboys and Falcons rallied throughout the first half, changing the lead three different times. At the end of the first half, the Cowboys were up 31 – 28 on the Falcons. “I didn’t feel like I was giving my teammates everything I had (in the first half),” senior Louis Adams said. “I felt like I needed to give them more energy and my game wasn’t going the way I wanted it to… so I had to find something else to do and I got in the key and got rebounds.”

Adams had only scored one point in the first half, but a 3-pointer with 9:43 left in the second half started Adams’ eight-point run. Adams scored another 3-pointer earlier in the second half, leaving him with 12 points.
“It’s good to have guys that can always score,” Dalton said. “Everyone is going to have an off-night, you know, I couldn’t buy a layup tonight but guys stepped like Austin Mueller stepped up off the bench.”
The Cowboys took off in the second half an put up 35 points, ending the game 66 – 54 over Air Force.
This was the Cowboys’ senior night, where four of the Cowboys were honored before the game; Alexander Aka Gorski, Louis Adams, Hayden Dalton and Alan Herndon.
“It’s kind of surreal since I have been here for a while,” Herndon said. “It just felt good, especially to come out with a win. And that’s what we were really focused on.”
The Cowboys’ final game of the regular season is this Saturday, Mar. 3 at 5 pm MST against Boise State in Boise, Idaho.
