Seth Jones and Alex Mulhall beat out Riley Quigley and Roshan Stagger for the office of president and vice president. The campaign season that started out just a month ago, started with five tickets and was narrowed down to two and now finally one winner.
Jones was excited but also wanted to give credit to all the people who helped and supported the campaign.
“All of the work put in shouldn’t be put on just on us,” Jones said. “We had a lot of people behind us, supporting our campaign, as it took more than just the two of us to make this happen. It is important to remember all the responsibility that this job brings. I think the greatest feeling is seeing all the people that supported us along the way, it reminds us why we set out to do this in the first place and how important this role on campus is.”
Mulhall was reminiscent of all the experiences that brought her to this moment and optimistic about the future.
“I would say ultimately, that I am really excited, not only just about entering this position but now being in a position to move forward with the goals we have created,” Mulhall said. “Throughout the campaign process, our goals have come to be very important to us because of the response we have received from students. I see this as an opportunity to do my part to benefit campus and I never would have thought I would have that ability when I first entered the university. I look forward to the next year and I am so appreciative of everyone who has supported us thus far.”
Both of the referendums passed. The first will change the pronouns in the ASUW constitution from “he” or “she” to “they.” The second will change the name of “freshman senate” to “first-year.” Results for senators for each of the colleges can be found on the ASUW Facebook page.
