Exit 345 (Warren Road) of Interstate 80 is closed after a fatal train wreck at about 8 p.m. Thursday night. The truck parking area near the exit and the service road at Exit 342 (Harriman Road) are also closed.
A Union Pacific Railroad freight train rear-ended another freight train stopped 18 miles west of Cheyenne. The trains derailed and formed a pileup of twisted train cars and spilled lumber.
Fox News in Denver reported that of the four Union Pacific Railroad employees involved, one man was killed and one is reported missing. Two others were taken to the hospital and released.
After Union Pacific performs a safety investigation, the Wyoming Department of Transportation estimates cleanup could take up to 10 days. The closures will continue during cleanup.
