The Wyoming women’s golf team wrapped up its second round of play at the Pat Bradley Invitational in 13th on Monday afternoon at the par-72 Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
Wyoming scored 17-over 305 in the second-round to follow up Sunday’s 304. The Cowgirls sit just three strokes outside of the top 10 after 36 holes. UTEP (University of Texas at El Paso) is the team leader heading into Tuesday’s final round at 1-over.
Cowgirl standout, junior Erin Sargent, leads the Pokes after the first two rounds, placing 16th at 3-over for the week after a second-round score of 77 on Tuesday. Sargent was one of only nine players in the field to open the tournament under par, firing a season-low-tying 70 on Sunday. Teeing off on hole 10, Sargent got off to a bit of a rough start by scoring four bogeys to get to the turn at 4-over, but she bounced back turning in a 1-over 33 over her final nine. Freshman Samantha Hui was the low Cowgirl in Monday’s round, tying her career low with a 75 to tie herself in 44th overall at 8-over for the week. Sarah Hankins recorded a 4-over 76 in her second round to tie for 60th at 12-over after 36 holes at the event. Senior Megan Knadler and redshirt sophomore Caitlyn Skavdahl each recorded 77’s on Monday. Skavdahl sits in 52nd at 10-over, while Knadler is in 67th at 13-over.
Wyoming will tee off on Tuesday for their third and final round at 8:30 a.m. EST. How will they finish this invitational and will the cowgirls’ efforts make it up to par?
