The University of Wyoming volleyball team fell 3 – 1 to Colorado State this past Tuesday, October 30 at Moby Arena in Fort Collins.
This was the second meeting between the Cowgirls and Rams this season. The Cowgirls won that match in early October in Laramie.
After a slow start resulting in the Cowgirls going down 2 – 0 in the first two sets, the Cowgirls were able to rally in the third set and get a win.
This is the first time since October 24, 2017 that a Mountain West team has gotten a set win against the Rams at home.
The Cowgirls had a late lead in the fourth set, but were not able to hold off the Rams in a 9 – 3 that gave the Rams the set win as well as the match win.
Offensively, the Cowgirls were led by junior Halie McArdle who had a season high of 14 kills, as well as seven digs.
Junior setter Cori Aafedt had 20 assists, while freshman KC McMahon recorded a career high four service aces. In total the Cowgirls had a total of 10 service aces, breaking the previous record of six.
In terms of defense, the Cowgirls were led by sophomore Jackie McBride who had seven of the teams’ nine blocks.
The Cowgirls are set to take on Air Force this Saturday, November 3 at 3 pm MST in Colorado Springs.
