The turkey is cooked and the potatoes are mashed for 7220 Entertainment’s annual Thanksgiving dinner in the University of Wyoming’s Union Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Students can pick up free tickets in the Union and the public may purchase their tickets which are $10 a piece with a limit of two per person. However, you may exchange three canned food items for one ticket as well. These cans will be donated to the Laramie Soup Kitchen as a way to give back to the community as 7220 has done many times in the past during this specific event.
7220 is planning to have accommodations for 200 University of Wyoming students plus UW staff, faculty and the Laramie community to attend. They have assured us that everybody will be able to indulge in the prepared meal in order to finish the meal with the pleasantly overstuffed feeling. The Thanksgiving meal will consist of all the traditional cuisine for this time of the year: roasted turkey breast, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, vegetables, desserts and beverages.
“I will definitely go,” exclaimed freshman Kathryn Davis. “Thanksgiving food is the best food, especially cranberry sauce!”
This is a perfect environment before fall break for the UW students to have a time to give thanks to their close friends they have made at the university as well as enjoy a well prepared meal. Thanksgiving is a time for joy and appreciation of those closest to you, and a time to eat way too much, which Davis says she will do.
“I will go with my friends I’ve made here because they have become a family to me,” said Davis. “I will definitely miss my family, though, especially my mom and brother. But I will see them when I go home for the Thanksgiving holiday.
