University of Wyoming’s annual Winter Fest will begin this Friday at 9 p.m. and end at midnight. The event is put on by 7220 Late Night, the division of 7220 responsible for late night activities. The events take place in the Union family room, the Half Acre Wellness Center and the upper level of the Union.
The Winter Fest offers a large variety of events including a So Bad it’s Good Movie Marathon. The movies featured are Sharknado and Leprechaun, and talking is encouraged during the films. Famous hypnotist Chris Jones will perform at 9 p.m. Jones became well known when he was a contestant on America’s got Talent in 2015 and for being an internet sensation through Youtube on the Scam Show and appearing on talk shows including Steve Harvey and Adam Carolla. A Zen Den room is also featured at Winter Fest, which offers a large array of activities to help students unwind. Included in the Zen Den are: meditation pillows, foot massage pods, coloring pages, a holiday craft table, and minute to win it games which are a chance for students to win prizes all night. Anticipated to be a very popular event is the stuffed animal craft workshop.This gives students the opportunity to craft their own stuffed animals. The workshop requires that you buy a ticket before hand or at the Cowboy Check-in table to purchase leftover tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the Union information desk until the day of Winter Fest.
Winter Fest is a transition into the new semester for students of all demographics, years in school and interests. It also showcases what the University has to offer and is an opportunity for students to meet and enjoy time with friends before finals week. The 7220 Late Night meets Tuesdays at 5 p.m. and includes information on how to join 7220 and its other branches.
