Australian TEN Tenors to play tonight

An Australian band with 16years of sellout performances across the globe, The TEN Tenors will put in a performance at the Arts and Sciences Auditorium tonight at 7:30 p.m.

The band, comprised of nine Australians and one New Zealander, does not have a consistent genre it sticks to to appease all its fan base and audience. The group is known for its dynamic choreographed performances that seamlessly transition from operatic arias to soulful ballads to chart-topping pop and rock hit everyone knows and loves.

“We cover a lot of genres,” TEN Tenors producer DJ Wendt said. “Rock, pop, gospel and classical are all covered in this group in the way that we present our program.”

Keeping it holiday-themed, the band will put on a Christmas show with killer rock songs and the pop/rock melodies of over 20 songs.

“Content wise, they will get some very traditional Christmas songs, some fun modern Christmas classics, some big rock numbers and a couple of fantastic melodies,” Wendt said. “We promise to make you laugh, cheer and maybe even shed a tear, but it will be two and a half hours of great music that is suitable for children through to grandparents and every age in between.”

Formed in 1995, The TEN Tenors have headlined more than 2000 concerts around the world and sold more than 3.5 million concert tickets, according to the group’s website. They have been widely praised in the media, including The New York Times.

The group has shared the stage with artists including Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Andrea Boccelli, Willie Nelson, Alanis Morissette and Christina Aguilera. The TEN Tenors have made appearances on the Today Show, Oprah’s Australian Adventure, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the 2012 UEFA Cup soccer competition in Warsaw, Poland, and Jerry Lewis’ MDA Telethon for an audience of 32 million viewers.

The TEN Tenors may be oceans away, but they are no strangers to Wyoming and are excited for the colder climate.

“We played in Sheridan in 2016 and back in 2008 we played in Cheyenne and Jackson. We are looking forward to coming back to Wyoming to get some real winter,” Wendt said.

The TEN Tenors performance is hosted by UW Presents. Tickets cost $17 for faculty, staff and seniors, $20 for the general public and $10 for students, and are available at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk. Tickets can also be purchased at UWyo.edu/finearts or by calling 307-766-6666.
