A bill banning 19- and 20-year olds from entering bars was “defeated without much debate” in the Wyoming House of Representatives. The bill would have closed a loophole in existing law limiting the drinking age to 21 and older, but not preventing adults below the drinking age from entering bars. ● The State Legislature also considered bills to allow beer in War Memorial Stadium and to allow triple trailers on interstate highways. ● A political science professor at UW predicted little would change in U.S. foreign policy under newly-sworn in President George H. W. Bush, despite campaign claims otherwise. ● The federal government designated Wyoming’s first foreign trade zone.

The Board of Trustees approved a proposal to have the ASUW president serve as an ex-officio member of the board. ● A BI Forum writer criticized politicians’ “unholy war against pot smokers,” writing “These moronic beasts crush freedom underfoot and have only contempt for civil liberties and the American way of life.” ● ASUW and the Board of Trustees gave the green light to switching to a Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory grading system. The proposal would require approval from the State Legislature.
