The man who brought you the 2004 hit single “Beautiful Soul” will perform at the University of Wyoming Arts and Sciences Auditorium March 7, 15 years later: pop singer Jesse McCartney.
Makenna Shaw, 7220 Entertainment large-scale events coordinator, is proud to announce that this 2000’s pop idol is coming to UW.
“I’m just excited to see everyone come out and relive their childhoods a little bit,” said Shaw.
Shaw is excited to see students who grew up listening to McCartney on the radio attend the event since he will be playing his older music along with his new singles. Even though his music attracts students and fans in their early to mid-20s, McCartney is suitable for all ages.
“I think it’s a good nostalgia event but he’s also singing new songs and becoming more relevant again,” said Shaw.
Tickets went on sale to the public and students Monday. VIP passes are also available, giving fans a chance to meet with McCartney, shake his hand and take a picture with him.
“[Tickets] are doing well for just being released,” said Shaw.
McCartney came out with two new singles, “Wasted” and “Better With You,” in 2018, his first music since his album 2014 “In Technicolor.” McCartney announced in the summer of 2018 he would be touring again with these new singles along with some of his older music.
Since he was already touring in the surrounding areas, 7220 Entertainment’s large events coordinators decided over the summer McCartney would be a great addition to campus events. Shaw took on the job of running the show and is absolutely ecstatic about it.
“I’m really excited to see the excitement from the community and from the students,” said Shaw. “That’s my favorite part of events, seeing all these people come out to see artists that we bring.”
McCartney started his career with singing in 1999 as apart of the American boy band Dream Street with hit songs “It Happens Every Time” and “I Say Yeah.” He left the band in 2002 to launch a career as a solo pop artist.
He released hit singles “Beautiful Soul” and “How Do You Sleep” and also co-wrote the hit single “Bleeding Love,” sung by Leona Lewis, which was later nominated for a Grammy Award. McCartney also starred in movies such as the popular kids movie and series following “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” voicing the character Theodore.
Tickets for this event are on sale now. Student tickets are $10 with a UW Student ID, faculty and public tickets are $20 and VIP passes are $40. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union Information desk or at the Fine Arts Box Office (inside the Buchanan Center for Performing Arts) in person or online.
