Wyoming Track & Field Win 12

Wyoming Track & Field traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado to compete in the Doug Max Invitational. Over the course of the weekend, the cowboys and cowgirls faced teams from CSU, Air Force, Thailand and CU. Over the course of the event Wyoming was able to claim 12 different event medals.

Some of the stars for the weekend include Kaylee Bentley and Jordan Edmonds of the cowgirls and William Nolan and Bryce Ailshie for the cowboys. Bentley finished the 5k run in 18:22.9, which was 8.57 seconds faster than second place which Wyoming’s Victoria Tenpenny who timed in at 18:31.47.

Other cowgirls to reach the top spot include Jasmyne Cooper who finished the 800m in 2:18.56. The Women 800m had the next three spots filled with cowgirls making the event brown and gold.

Marie Doherty took first in the 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:05.9. Second place was taken by cowgirl Grace Tanner with a time of 1:09.1. Marie also tied for fourth place in the Women High Jump.

Jerayah Davis scored an impressive 6.1m in the Long Jump. Shayla Howell held second with 5.87m landing. Finally, Ja’la Henderson in the Woman Triple Jump with 12.91m. Our cowboys also showed that they weren’t planning on slouching through the event.

Blake Hubert and Will Persin got first and second place for the Men’s 5K run. Tyler Dahl, Jacob Harthun, Jace Marx, and Roman Smith took first in the Men 4×100 Relay. They ended with a time of 44.06 seconds.

Michael Downey finished the Men 1500m run with a time of 3:54.63. Bryce Ailshie finished the Men’s 800m at 1:53.87. Pete Mead etched out a win over CSUs Shane Gates in the Men high jump with a score of 1.98m, Gates got a 1.90m.

William Nolan and Alec Richardson got first and second respectively in the Men Long Jump. Nolan scored a 7.09m and Richardson landed a 7.02m. Nolan also grabbed first in the Men’s Triple Jump with a 14.46m run.

Hap Frketich cleaned up in the Men’s Javelin gave Wyoming another medal. Frketich scored a 58.89m throw, a whole 8.04m farther than second place.

Both cowboys and girls really showed their colors in Colorado and are looking forward to their next meet in California.
