Those looking for a good way to find unique, original content and to take breather from all the craziness that comes with the end of the semester can check out the Student Short Film Festival this Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Union Family Room.
At the event, student films that range from 5 to 20 minutes long including credits and feature a variety of subjects will be shown. All films shown at the festival that fit within the submission guidelines will also be eligible to win awards from the 7220 Entertainment Films Committee with a grand prize of $500 going to the film that wins first place at the festival.
The event is also being hosted by the 7220 Entertainment Films Committee, one of the five committees that makes up 7220 Entertainment. The committee typically meets once a week on Mondays at 4 p.m. in the Campus Activities Center, Union 012, and have been working hard to get the festival ready.
To provide the best possible experience, committee members have been previewing all films before they are shown at the festival to ensure that the films do not break any of the guidelines set out by the committee for the event. This includes rules about explicit content, use of music and the use of subtitles if not in English.
Submissions for the event are no longer being accepted for this year’s festival, but even if you missed the deadline you can still attend the event. It is possible you could gain some inspiration or even motivation from seeing what other students have created.
If you wish to contact the committee with questions about the event, you can email them at films@uwyo.eduor call at 307-766-6344. Those interested in 7220 Entertainment as a whole can visit UWyo.edu/7220entertainment to learn what they are all about.
