The Wyoming Cowgirls got back into the swing of things Thursday Night as they claimed a victory against the Air Force Falcons in a five set match. This match marked the fourth game of Mountain West Play and the third victory in Mountain West play for the Cowgirls.
Improving their defensive play from Tuesday’s match against CSU, the Cowgirls were able to win the first, third, and final set of the game against the Falcons. The Cowgirls hit a .172 on the night nearly doubling the Falcons average of .087.
Freshman setter Kyra Slavik helped lead the Cowgirls with 43 assists, 18 digs, and 3 block assists. Jackie McBride, a sophomore middle blocker, had a career-high of 18 kills to go along with her seven blocks.
KC McMahon added 3 blocks to go along with her 11 kills while Tara Traphagan had 10 kills and 2 blocks. Faith Waitsman had a total of 7 kills and 4 blocks. Overall the Cowgirls had 11 blocks against the Falcons 6 blocks, helping them secure the win.
Backrow defense was led by Madi Fields with a total of 22 digs. Erika Jones had a career-high of 16 digs during the match as well as Hailey Zuroske with 12 digs. Kiahlei Yaste totalled in with nine digs for the match.
The Cowgirls will return home on October 10th as they take on San Diego State at 6:30pm.
