The Wyoming Cowboys expect to be at full strength against the San Diego State Aztecs Saturday after a bye week.
“A lot on the line,” Coach Craig Bohl said. “We are going on the road and play against what we think is an excellent team.”
“When we look at San Diego on tape, they have a disruptive defense.”
Both teams have a record of 4-1 coming into the month of October with San Diego State coming off a recent 24-10 win against the CSU Rams. The Cowboys will face a challenging, nationally ranked defense on Saturday. The Aztecs are ranked first in the nation for their rushing defense, only allowing 45.4 rushing yards per game. Wyoming had a total of 374 rushing yards in its first conference game against UNLV and is averaging 248.2 per game. Despite a 53-17 win against the Rebels, the Cowboys are going to be facing a team that has only allowed 57 points in their past five games.
On the offense, senior quarterback, Ryan Agnew, who is averaging 189.0 passing yards per game and has a 80 percent completion rate, will lead the Aztecs. Their sophomore wide receiver Kobe Smith is coming off a 100-yard game against CSU, recording two touchdowns and seven catches during the game.
“We had three agendas. Number one, we wanted to improve fundamentally on our offense, defense and our kicking game. Number two, work on San Diego. Number three, get refreshed and healthy,” Bohl said.
The game kicks off at 8:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time in San Diego.
