7220 Entertainment: Fine Arts and Lectures have coordinated an Art Show for students to participate in and a live performance from the Banshee Tree.
“We play a lot of up tempo electro-swing, reminiscent of Gogol Boredello and Caravan Palace, but we also play groovy backbeat rock, funk and swing. Our songwriter, Thomas LaFond writes incredible compositions that I’m excited to share with everyone we have the opportunity to play for,” said Michelle Pietrafitta of the Banshee Tree.
“Laramie has been a cornerstone of our touring for the past two years,” Pietrafitta said. “Our first show in Wyoming was the Poker Run and we have been hooked on this town ever since. The people of Laramie are so receptive and fun – it’s this energy that has led to our performance at Studio Wyo. We are stoked.”
She said Banshee Tree will be returning to the Poker Run as the headliner on Feb. 29, 2020.
The performance for the Banshee Tree will begin at 7 p.m., during the art show held today from 6 to 9 p.m., located in the Fireplace Lounge in the lower level of the Wyoming Union.
“We’re just looking to have fun and put on a performance people will remember. We want ya’ll to get down with us,” Pietrafitta said.
“The purpose of the event is to display student artwork and give those students an outlet to show their work to the public and to their peers,” Mariah Spearman the events coordinator of Fine Arts and Lectures said.
Submitted art will be voted on and the students who received the most votes will earn a prize. Students who would like to submit art can register online until at 5 p.m. today.
“There will be a scratch off art competition,” Amanda Kuster, the student activities coordinator of the Campus Activities Center, said.
Students can participate in the competition, and the materials for the scratch off art competition will be provided. The prizes to be earned from the scratch art competition and art submissions remain a mystery, but Kuster said 7220 Entertainment will be giving out good prizes.
