Hey! Guess what Wyoming, there is another storm coming. Or is there? Being into the spring semester of school, this is no surprise. Going to school in this state, the beginning of the spring semester means cold and snow.

It does seem, though, that the weather is playing tricks on us since last Sunday was in the 60s and the next Monday was shot with snow and negative degree weather. Just when we hoped things would warm up, it became the exact opposite.

“I hate snow and I’m from California so I don’t like the cold. I also saw that we aren’t supposed to get snow.” said Emille Inez, a senior from the University of Wyoming.

Wyoming is good at having crazy weather. Last Friday the forecast was calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow. As of today they are not calling for any snow. With this crazy weather we constantly need to be on the alert for the changing weather. We have found tips, tricks and overall good advice people need to know living in Wyoming.

“I am not excited for 5-6 inches. I don’t love the cold but I don’t like it when I go outside,”  said Brianna Lynnes.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has a system to take care of the roads. They will take care of I-80 from the Utah state line to the Nebraska state line, and then I-25 from the Colorado state line to the Montana state line first before they go to the smaller roads.

Those two interstates have the most traffic and have to stay open as long as possible because of shipping routes. If you are traveling, those roads will be your best option because they will be the best taken care of and cleaned first. The other roads will be cleaned, but they will not be maintained like the interstates.

When driving in the snow, your best option is to drive slow. Driving slow gives you the option to have the maximum control over your car and also allows you to have extra reaction time. If it is snowing while you are driving at night, do not use your brights, the extra light will make it look like you are in a Star Wars movie and you will not be able to see as well. Most importantly, have an emergency kit in your car. The emergency kit should have water, food and a blanket so you do not freeze if your car breaks down, but also if you have to wait awhile, you have food and water to hold you over.

Now as for the storm that is coming, living in Wyoming, the storm could come even if the weatherman says it is not. Your best bet is to always be prepared to have things in your car so you stay warm or have an extra jacket if it starts snowing. Living in Wyoming, you can never be too prepared.

Now the question remains: will it snow or will it not?
