7220 Entertainment has moved Thursday Night Trivia to an online platform so students can still be involved.
The trivia night will be hosted at 6 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. The nicknamed Wyoming Game Show is accessible through a link on the UW university calendar event page.
7220 Entertainment Club Events Coordinator Aliea Ednie said a company called To Go Events was hired to livestream the trivia night on Twitch, an online streaming platform. This allows the event to be a live game show streamed just for UW.
The virtual version of trivia night will be a little bit different than on-campus trivia nights, besides being online.
Ednie said that timing is important in the virtual trivia, so faster answers gain a participant more points. If a participant answers a question with a wrong answer, then points will be deducted.
“It is like Kahoot,” said Ednie.
Trivia night would not be complete without prizes. Ednie said there is $300 worth of prizes to win. It also allows students to get connected with friends they have not seen in a while.
7220 Entertainment continued to host events even after the UW campus was closed for COVID-19.
“We still wanted to give students events and activities to participate at their homes,” said Ednie. “The biggest struggle is reaching all the students to let them know that these events are available and provided by 7220 Entertainment.”
Giving students opportunities to be involved with events just like they were on campus is important during a time when they are not physically at school. College is an experience, not only academics.
“We strive to enrich the co-curricular experience for students through involvement opportunities such as these events,” said Ednie. “7220 Entertainment contributes to student satisfaction and retention of students.”
Ednie also described trivia night as a fun and interactive hour-long study break.
Making sure these events are available to students is a big job to fill. 7220 Entertainment is dedicated to providing this experience in a fun and accessible way.
“The biggest struggle is reaching all the students to let them know that these events are available and provided by 7220 Entertainment,” said Ednie.
Trivia night is a great way to mix up a daily quarantine routine excitingly and competitively. Get connected with friends again and win some great prizes!
