The Blue Sky Group Incorporated is hosting their Music Festival Series in Laramie on Thursday evenings. The festival has been turned into a mobile parade that brings the music to the audience.
“This is our way of thanking Laramie for all of its support, showing how much we love the people of Laramie, and celebrating talented local bands and entrepreneurship,” said Blue Sky Group CEO John Pope.
According to the event’s Facebook Page, some of the featured bands include Going Nowhere and Peculiar Patriots. Also, sound technicians BendeRuble Sound has been helping with the event.
“The bands and sound technicians have obvious down time and were enthusiastic in their volunteer support of this event,” said Pope.
COVID-19 has been affecting all events around the nation, including the Blue Sky Group Music Festival Series.
“We don’t give up easily. In talking to our friends around the country, we identified a way to do this festival safely,” said Pope. “COVID-19 forced us to reimagine what a music festival might look like.”
The Blue Sky Group’s solution was to make the festival mobile by putting the bands on a roving truck and moving through the town.
Pope said he thinks the festival is a great way to pull the community together in tough times. He hopes people leave the festival with a dusty mask, a phone number from a stranger, and a big smile.
“Music is a great catalyst for community,” said Pope. “We want people to remember what it’s like to get together and dance, albeit safely.”
For more information and a map of the festival’s route, interested parties can visit the Blue Sky Group’s event on their Facebook page.
“The Blue Sky Group only does things that are inspirational and have the ability to make the world a better place, this festival is no different.” said Pope.
