On Wednesday Sept. 23, Sergeant Sally Dalles hit a protester, Tyler Klatt, with her vehicle. Multiple videos that show this incident are on various social medias.
“He declined any medical care and stated he was not injured,” according to the Laramie Police Department (LPD) Facebook post shared Thursday Sept. 24.
Dalles arrested a 22 year old Laramie resident, Illyanna Saucedo, due to impeding traffic during a protest according to the LPD post.
In response, Klatt went in front of the emergency vehicle filming the officer. Another officer led Klatt in front of the vehicle back to the sidewalk. Dalles moved the vehicle to leave the scene and hit Klatt before he was on the sidewalk as seen in the video footage posted by LPD.
According to the LPD Facebook post, Klatt was offered medical assistance both by the LPD and the Fire Department. The Fire Department reached out to Klatt per the request of LPD.
A Laramie Human Rights Network (LHRN) Facebook post responds to the video footage shared by LPD with a Facebook post of their own. They said Klatt “only entered the path of the vehicle because your officer directed them to the sidewalk” in front of the patrol car.
In reference to the LPD, the LHRN said “your drone footage showcases how officer Dalles specifically chose to arrest the one person of color out of a group of white people, which is the same thing that happened to the single detained protester three weeks prior,” said LHRN in the Facebook post. “These are blatantly racist practices and are wonderfully showcased by your filmography and we appreciate you showing the community.”
Saucedo, the individual arrested, was warned “four separate times over an 8-block span to remain out of the street where she was impeding traffic” according to the LPD Facebook post.
LPD and LHRN did not respond to communication to add to this article.
