Republican candidate Liz Cheney is in the lead according to unofficial general election results.
Congresswoman Liz Cheney has served as the lone Wyoming U.S. Representative since 2017. She currently ranks the third highest position in GOP leadership, as the House Republican Conference Chair. She is originally from Casper and is the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Cheney’s democratic opponent, Lynnette Grey Bull, is originally from California, but has family ties to Northern Arapaho on Wyoming’s Wind River Reservation. She has spent her career working on advocacy for Native American communities and started a non-profit organization dedicated to raise awareness for missing and murdered indigenous women and children.
Nina Hebert, the Communications Director for Grey bull’s campaign, said the team was disappointed with the results, but proud that Grey Bull was the first indigenous person to run for federal office in Wyoming.
Grey bull does not currently have plans to run again, and is excited to spend time with her kids after a pressing election season. She hopes to work with Rep. Liz Cheney and other organizations on helping America’s indigenous populations.
Richard Brubaker ran with a Libertarian platform, where he advocated to follow the constitution closely and change modern political methods. Brubaker has been openly anti-corporation, and criticizes Representative Liz Cheney for siding with big industry.
Jeff Haggit moved to Wyoming after high school to attend Western Wyoming Community College. He ran with the Constitutional party, and hoped to follow the founding documents closely if chosen for office. Haggit wants to address “out-of-control” taxation, and make changes to our affiliation with the United Nations.
We attempted to reach out to Brubaker and Haggit, but they could not be reached.
