The CDC and Wyoming Department of Health have recommended for everyone to celebrate the upcoming holidays with only the people who live with them.
“It’s really pretty simple, even though it sounds redundant. In general, holidays or otherwise folks should stay home and stay away from others when they are sick. Wear cloth coverings in public settings and social distance at 6 feet. Those who are susceptible to getting sick should avoid contact,” said Stefan Johansson, the deputy director for the Wyoming Department of Health.
Stefan said that free testing kits are available to anyone on the website for the Wyoming Department of Health. The tests are sent with overnight shipping and Stefan said the results come back relatively quickly.
“I’m confident the folks in Wyoming will take this seriously, but with how many people travel and have gatherings on holidays like this will result in the rise in cases,” said Stefan.
“We anticipate to see a rise but we hope that is not the case.”
“As cases continue to increase rapidly across the United States, the safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to celebrate at home with the people you live with,” said the CDC website.
According to their website, travelling should be reconsidered and minimized, especially if travelling from an area that has rising COVID-19 cases.
Before travelling, the CDC has a questions list to run through to assess if travelling is a good idea.
The questions to consider include looking at the hospitals of where you are travelling to see if they are overwhelmed, what travel restrictions are in place on your planned route, or if you are able to be socially distant during travelling.
