The mask mandate was recently lifted in Wyoming, but that does not mean the pandemic is over.
Many people still were not wearing masks during the state mask mandate, but now it’s even more obvious how many people are not wearing masks or happen to forget.
I see it in my classes where students and teachers alike take off their mask to take a drink or eat and forget to put it back on.
I also see people decide that they are just muffled enough that it somehow gives them the right of way to not wear their masks.
I get it. Masks are annoying. A pandemic is annoying. I also want it to be over, but nobody can just declare the pandemic is over until there are no new cases of COVID being transferred.
We are all so close to getting out of this pandemic only if it stays under control.
The pandemic will only stay under control if everybody keeps up with masks, social distancing, and washing hands.
Without this, cases could rise again and we’re even farther away from getting to go to Walmart without a mask and also without spreading or contracting anything.
Even for people who have gotten both doses of their vaccine, it’s still important to keep wearing masks.
From what I gathered on the CDC, it’s still unknown how the vaccine affects COVID-19 when people are exposed to it.
I wish we all knew if the vaccine was 100% effective in both preventing and contracting COVID as well as avoiding spreading it, but it is better than nothing.
I’ve been complaining that the pandemic is not over yet, but it is getting better.
I feel comfortable seeing friends now that the vaccine is prominent. I’m no longer as cooped up in my apartment with my pets as I was before (even though I did enjoy seeing my anxious dog every day).
It’s easier to go grab a coffee and it’s nice to go sit outside with the warming weather.
It’s not time to celebrate a COVID free summer, but we have warm weather coming up. The sun is out.
For going on walks it’s easy to carry a mask and slip it on when close to people and take it off after. Nobody has to die of a heat stroke with their masks in the summer.
We’re just about there as long as we all are not lazy with wearing masks.
