Summer months are a popular time for family and friend vacations. With the warm weather and the break from school, it’s the perfect time of the year for a bit of traveling and sightseeing.
Wyomingites who are looking to cool off in the water this summer don’t have to travel far. The state has no shortage of beautiful lakes and reservoirs.
I’ve compiled a list of my 5 favorite bodies of water in Wyoming for readers who might be planning a camping trip or lake day soon.
5 – Guernsey Reservoir
Located in Guernsey State Park, this reservoir is the perfect spot to hang with pals and share drinks on a hot summer day. You can camp nearby and spend all day on the water if you so please.
I’ve camped here myself over spring break and I must say, it was a total blast.
4 – Lake Hattie Reservoir
This lake is very close to Laramie and is a popular area for fishing and boating.
The sunsets here are absolutely unbeatable and the shoreline provides room to hang out with friends. Coming here has always been one of my favorite summer activities.
3 – Jenny Lake
This scenic lake is located in the Grand Teton National Park and is surrounded by beautiful trails. With breathtaking views and several climbing points nearby, it is a very popular tourist attraction.
This lake is most certainly on my bucket list and I look forward to seeing it one day.
2 – Jackson Lake
The gorgeous mountains that border this lake are sure to give tourists the view of a lifetime. Jackson Lake is also located in the Grand National Teton Park, and visitors are allowed to utilize water skis and motorboats on the water.
I plan to visit this lake along with Jenny Lake, since the two are not far apart.
1 – Yellowstone Lake
Coming in at #1, this stunning lake can be found in Yellowstone National Park and is surrounded by jaw dropping views, hiking trails and places for visitors to camp. I chose this lake as the top one because Yellowstone is one of my favorite places in the country, and I saw some amazing views while hiking around this lake.
